Upload your own solar generation file

If you've got your own solar generation forecast, it can be easily ingested by our model

There are two options for custom solar generation files in the model:

  1. Simple custom profile:

The model can ingest a simple solar generation profile with columns "Timestamp (UTC)" and "Power (MW)".

As the names suggest, these columns should represent a timestamp in UTC format and a forecast solar generation in MW. This should profile should show contain a full calendar year of data in half hopurly or hourly granularity.

  2. PVSyst ouput file:

The model can ingest output files straight from PVsyst. This is the standard software package for detailed modelling of solar generation - a comprehensive tool which allows users to model, in detail, all aspects of their site.

For our forecast to work, we need an output file that contains the 'E_grid' column at a minimum. It's even better if 'E_array' and 'I_Loss' are included - these allow us to calculate solar clipping. Without these we assume that no solar clipping occurs.
